Low Angled Light (Direct Lighting)
Low angled lighting enables
edge detection, monitoring a marking and detecting flaws on
glass or metal surfaces. Slightly angled lighting is recommended
for monitoring printed characters, surface condition, detecting
grooves, scratches
Direct lighting is used for
highlighting a small surface area of the object to be monitored
and casting a shadow. Direct lighting is recommended for location
of specific flaws, monitoring screw threads…
The lighting is placed behind
the object and facing the camera. The diffused lighting provides
a clear silhouette of the object (shadow puppet). Back-lighting
is recommended for measuring the sides of an object or analysing
opaque elements encapsulated in glass.
By directing the light towards a semi-reflective
mirror, coaxial lighting enables highlighting of smooth surfaces
perpendicular to the optical axis. Coaxial lighting is recommended
for monitoring, analysing and measuring flat metal and other
reflective surfaces.
